Reporting the wrong contact

What to do when a reply comes from someone who isn't the person the campaign meant to reach.

Sometimes a reply makes it obvious the email reached the wrong person — a different name, a "never heard of this address," someone who moved away years ago. The Inbox has a one-click way to stop emailing them: the This isn't the right person button.

What it does

Reporting a wrong contact stops all further email to that address from your campaigns, immediately. The address is unsubscribed from the sending system and added to your suppression list — it appears among the entries in Settings → Suppression.

Important — This can't be undone

The unsubscribe is permanent — once removed, the contact cannot be re-subscribed by you or by Grassfed. Only use it when you are confident the contact is genuinely wrong, not merely uninterested (an uninterested neighbor can simply be left alone).

Report a wrong contact

An open conversation with the "This isn't the right person" button in the thread header and the confirmation dialog showing the contact's email address.

  1. Open the conversation in your Inbox.

  2. Select This isn't the right person in the conversation header (on a phone it appears as a compact icon in the same spot).

  3. A confirmation dialog — "This isn't the right person?" — shows exactly which email address and property it applies to, and reminds you: "We'll stop emailing this contact for you straight away."

  4. Select Remove contact to confirm, or Cancel to back out. On success a confirmation replaces the button, and no further email will go to that address.

Reporting only affects your campaigns — it never blocks the person for other agents, so a mistaken click on your side cannot damage anyone else's outreach.

When the button is grayed out

Occasionally the button is disabled. That happens when a reply arrived from an email address we could not match back to a contact record in your campaigns — there is no record for the report to act on. Hovering the button shows the explanation:

We can't match this conversation to a contact record, so it can't be reported from here. Please contact support.

In that case, reach out to support with the sender's email address and Grassfed will handle the removal manually.
