Sometimes a campaign needs to stop. The seller asks you to hold until the open house, the property goes under contract, or you are away for a week and would rather not field replies. You can pause a running campaign yourself from the campaign's own page — and, more usefully, you can tell Grassfed when to start it again, so you do not have to remember.
Pausing
Open the campaign from Campaigns and look just under the stats at the top of the page. While a campaign is sending you will see Pause campaign.
Choosing it opens a short form with two questions:
Why are you pausing? This is required. The reason is stored with the campaign so that anyone at Grassfed looking at it later can see exactly why it stopped — a campaign that is dark for no recorded reason is the thing we most want to avoid.
When should it start again? By default the campaign will start again automatically on a date you pick, which defaults to a week out. You can choose any date up to 90 days ahead. If you would rather hold it open-endedly, choose Keep it paused until I turn it back on.
Pausing takes effect immediately: no new emails are sent. Emails already handed to the mail servers in the minutes before you paused may still be delivered — pausing stops the sending, it cannot recall mail already on its way.
While it is paused
The campaign's badge changes to show both the state and the promise, for example Paused — resumes Aug 25, 2026. The same line appears on the campaign page, so the answer to "when does this come back?" is always visible and you never need to ask.
On the resume date the campaign starts sending again on its own. You do not have to do anything, and you will not be billed again — the campaign was already paid for when you approved it.
Starting it again early
If you change your mind, open the campaign and choose Start sending now. The campaign picks up where it left off, and the resume date is cleared.
When you will not see the pause control
Two cases:
The campaign is not sending yet. A campaign that is still being built, or is waiting for your approval, has nothing to pause. If you no longer want it, decline it on the Approvals page instead.
Grassfed has already paused it. If our systems stopped the campaign — most often because it was bouncing at a rate that would damage your sending reputation — the page will say so and show the reason, but the campaign is not yours to restart. Reply to any Grassfed email and we will look at it with you.
